Priyanka Chopra, Bollywood's desi girl, earned many other sobriquets this year. She won accolades for Quantico, shot for her Hollywood debut Baywatch and was honoured by Time magazine. The actress turns 34 today and she has made a mark in the industry and globally too. Yes! she is a global icon today.

She made her Bollywood debut in the year 2003 with The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, opposite Sunny Deol. And over the years have proved it that you don't need a godfather to make it big in Bollywood. 

Ever since she made her debut in America as Alex Parrish on Quantico, Priyanka became a sensation and after her announcement of the Hollywood debut Baywatch, the actress has not stopped. A scroll through her journey!

Priyanka Chopra was 18 when she won the Miss World pageant. After her Bollywood debut, she played the leading lady in the box-office hits Andaaz (2003) and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), and earned praise for her breakout role in the 2004 thriller Aitraaz.

In 2006, Priyanka established herself as a leading actress of Indian cinema with starring roles in the top-grossing productions Krrish and Don. Following a brief setback, she received critical acclaim for playing a troubled model in the drama Fashion (2008), which won her the National Film Award and Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Few other films that worked for Priyanka were Kaminey (2009), 7 Khoon Maaf (2011), Barfi! (2012), Mary Kom (2014), Dil Dhadakne Do (2015), and Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Jai Gangaajal (2016) all of which garnered her critical acclaim and several accolades.

She has worked with Bollywood’s best actors, directors, and producers. As of 2015, she had her own television show on ABC, Quantico.

She will star opposite Hollywood’s favorite actors Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock and Zac Efron in an upcoming movie Baywatch.

Priyanka was also one of the Oscar presenters this year and gave the award to Margaret Sixel for Best Film Editing for Mad Max: Fury Road.

The 2016 White House Correspondents’ dinner, which was US President Barack Obama’s last in office, was also attended by Priyanka Chopra, along with Nina Dobrev, Will Smith, Kendall Jenner and many more from film fraternity from all across the globe. Post the dinner session, Priyanka Chopra tweeted about the fun she had there. She was glad to meet US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Priyanka, who rose to international fame after starring in American TV series Quantico, also walked the red carpet of the 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.

This girl is literally everywhere. The actress also attend the Billboard Music Awards this year.

And how can one miss the People’s Choice Award. Priyanka also won the Favourite Actress in a New TV series award at the People's Choice Awards 2016 for her leading role in American TV thriller series Quantico.

The actress is also making her mark as a singer. Her first single, In My City, made its debut in 2012 at an NFL TV spot. Priyanka also featured in a video with the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Cristiano Ronaldo. What’s more, the song is by Enrique Iglesias. The song, titled ‘Don’t you need somebody’, has been primarily sung by ‘Hero’ singer Iglesias, with bits of it crooned by R City, Serayah and Shaggy.

In IIFA 2016 too, the actress performed on her famous numbers which she recorded in her own voice for the event. At the award show, the actress not only received the Best Actor in Supporting Role (Female) for Bajirao Mastani but was also bestowed a Special Award: Woman of the Year.

However, she has always maintained that despite her position as a global icon, she is always connected to her roots.

Other than films, singing and TV show, the actress also made headlines for her magazine cover. InStyle, Emmy, Complex, Time are few in the magazine's list.

And how can one forget the superb reply the actress gave on Maxim armpit controversy. She then captioned her photo as: "Here's another “pit-stopping” picture to add to the debate. #WillTheRealArmpitPleaseStandUp #nofilter #armpitdiaries."

At present, Piyanka has started shooting for the second season of her Hollywood TV series Quantico. The actress will be seen reprising her role as FBI agent Alex Parrish, who is suspected of committing a terrorist attack.
