A Fox News copycat website published a distasteful article about the Mauritian president saying her two children Adam and Imaam Fakim had died in a car crash in the United States.
Ameenah Gurib-Fakim was understandably horrified by what she read online. Here's what she had to say:
This form of fake news is similar to the one practiced by the Mauritian Yogesh Kumar Ramsahye in the recent past when he made a fake copycat website of Top FM and was then sued by the company.
Now that a political figure has been targeted, will Mauritian authorities at last make a move to clamp down on fake news and its creators? Let's wait and see.
