The concept of false and misleading news coverage is as old as news itself and over the last few months, we have seen a growing number of fake Mauritian articles - most notably when a certain Yogesh Kumar Ramsahye led Mauritians to believe that then Mauritian Prime Minister Sir Anerood Jugnauth was ill and had been admitted to hospital.

Another such fake news has been doing the rounds on social media lately. It goes like this: Miss Mauritius Bessika Bucktowar arrested at London Heathrow Airport with 2 kg of cocaine.

The article was published by a Metro copycat website on Saturday. Mo Ti News would like to inform its users that the real Metro website is and not

This form of fake news is similar to the one practiced by Yogesh Kumar Ramsahye in the recent past when he made a fake copycat website of Top FM and was then sued by the company.

Bessika Bucktowar had this to say:

The "article" about cocaine or whatever is fake. im in mauritius, at home! Kindly stop sharing that thing...actions will be taken soon to know who did it.. thank you for your support..
